Description
Wachesaw Plantation Club membership is a coveted lifestyle
amid coastal beauty and quiet. Members socialize and compete on
a collection of standout amenities, including a Tom Fazio
championship course that originally helped define Fazio’s
signature style.
Perched on a high bluff overlooking the Intracoastal
Waterway, Wachesaw Plantation is coursed with deep river waters
that throughout its history has made it an ideal landing spot
for people and supplies entering and leaving the area.
Anyone familiar with the community will attest to its aura of
cultural and historic importance. Long before Europeans settled
this area and began growing indigo and rice, Native Americans
lived in villages along local waterways and marshes.

Wachesaw features an award-winning Tom Fazio golf course.
Wildlife was abundant and the tide-driven rivers and creeks
made canoe travel easy. Age-old burial mounds discovered in the
1930s revealed pottery shards, tools, jewelry and skeletal
remains.
Thanks to an extensive archaeological survey in the early
1980s, Wachesaw is one of the more thoroughly researched
plantations in the South. During its early development in the
1990s, the community became the most studied architectural site
in all of South Carolina.

A Club for All Seasons
Membership in the Wachesaw Plantation Club offers not only a
superior liefstyle, but also a remarkable value.
The 18-hole championship golf course at Wachesaw Plantation
Club ranks among Tom Fazio’s finest achievements. Rolling
fairways weave among beautiful estate homes and cottages. At
every turn, the Lowcountry landscape takes center stage.

Shot of the waterfront course.
Undulating greens, fringed bunkers and love-grass knolls
establish a visual character Fazio himself dubbed “the Wachesaw
look.” No. 18—atop a bluff overlooking the slow-moving
Waccamaw—is called one of the most dramatic holes on the entire
East Coast.
Over at the tennis center, spirited competition or nurturing
instruction are the orders of the day. Like everything at
Wachesaw, the tennis facilities also set an exacting standard.
Eight Har-Tru courts include five that are lighted for evening
play.

The tennis center has lighted courts for evening enjoyment.
The center is staffed with former European pro circuit
players. There’s plenty of chances for serious competition as
well as lighthearted rivalries. Programs for all ages and skill
levels include men’s and ladies round robins and special
curriculums for juniors.
Tailored for the discerning vacationer, a limited number of
quaint cottages are available for nightly, weekly, monthly or
annual rentals. These Lowcountry-style duplex town homes,
beautifully decorated and fully equipped, appeal to families,
wedding parties, golfing groups and vacationers yearning for a
more distinctive destination.

plantation home, on a river bluff, Kimbels boasts a breathtaking
view of Tom Fazio’s famous eighteenth green and the
Intracoastal.

Kimbel's visitors enjoy good food and Intracoastal views.
While a talented staff creates culinary masterpieces in the
kitchen, boats of all shapes and sizes create postcard-perfect
vistas on the Intracoastal Waterway. Great wine, food and the
relaxing sounds of the historic river await you at Kimbels.
At the heart of the social life that surrounds the Club,

Location Map, Wachesaw Plantation Club,

About the Area
Wachesaw Plantation Club is located in the quaint, seaside,
fishing village of Murrells Inlet near Pawleys Island, South
Carolina.
Wacca Wache Marina, a freshwater haven for boaters, is
conveniently located at Intracoastal Waterway Marker No. 57
on the Waccamaw River in Murrells Inlet, less than a mile
from the gates of Wachesaw Plantation.
Tall cypress and oak trees draped in Spanish moss and
grass covered picnic areas have made the marina property a
popular recreation area. In addition to full service docks,
wet slips, PWC slips and dry dock storage, boaters can enjoy
the comfort and convenience of the Wacca Wache Marina store.
Brookgreen Gardens is a National Historic Landmark with
one of the most significant collections of figurative
sculpture by American artists in the world and has the only
zoo accredited by the American Zoo and Aquarium Association
on the coast of the Carolinas.
Within its 9,000 acres are the Lowcountry History and
Wildlife Preserve, the Huntington Sculpture Garden and the
Center for American Sculpture. Now celebrating its 75th
Anniversary, Brookgreen Gardens offers exciting new
exhibitions, programs and events.
Natural Treasures
Just minutes from Wachesaw Plantation Club, Huntington
Beach offers its visitors the best preserved beach on the
Grand Strand—three miles of uncrowded, secluded and natural
beach landscape.
The park’s freshwater lagoon, salt marsh, maritime forest
and beach are outstanding examples of the state’s natural
coastal environment. These also provide such prime habitat
for birds that the park is widely recognized as one of the
best birding sites along the East Coast.
Huntington Beach is also the site of the historic
“Atalaya” castle. The former winter home and studio of noted
American sculptor, Anna Hyatt Huntington, and her husband,
Archer Milton Huntington, Atalaya is also listed as a
National Historic Landmark.
Although private and secluded, many conveniences are
within five minutes of the plantation, including a grocery
store, post office, hospital, churches, dry cleaners and
banks.
